Luke Rogerson (’26), had an incredible track season as a javelin thrower at RMHS, breaking the school record and earning the title of MIAA Division 3 champion.
At the D3 championships at Merrimack College, Rogerson was able to throw 210’7”, setting the school record for the third time overall. The previous record was held by Mark Porter, who threw 194’7″ in 2017, a record Rogerson first broke with a throw of 201′ 5″ at a dual meet against Woburn on May 11. In addition to the school record, Rogerson now holds the Middlesex League record and the MSTCA D3 record. In fact, Rogerson is now the 16th best high school javelin thrower in the United States.
Rogerson’s personal goals going into the season included breaking the school record and being able to throw upwards of 200 feet. Rogerson said, “Breaking the record at senior night was a phenomenal feeling I will never forget and am grateful for the support I received from my coaches, family, and friends. This past season has taught me so much about perseverance, leadership, and trusting the work I put in…and I am excited to carry those lessons with me at UMass.”
Rogerson’s throwing coach, Mr. Fiore, describes how Rogerson came into the season prepared and ready to compete: “He came into the spring season in great throwing shape. For the spring, it has just been about working hard on the finer points of his form, while maintaining his power and rhythm each week. Luke is a real student of the event, studying film of his throws from meets and practice. His hard work is really paying off.”
Rogerson will be attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he is committed for Track and Field.
