Over 140 high school seniors at RMHS have applied to participate in the internship program to gain work experience and responsibility before wrapping up high school.
The RMHS internship program allows seniors to leave the classroom setting during fourth quarter to gain work experience in careers that interest them. Students work in places like schools and businesses for their last month as high school seniors.
To participate students must maintain at least a C- in each class. Those who don’t participate in the internship program remain in their regular scheduled classes.
When asked about the Internship program Assistant Principal Ms. Theriault said, “As of right now, I have had 142 formally applied.”
“If they’re not allowed to go on an internship or they choose not to, they will just stay in their regular scheduled classes,” Theriault explained.
A senior at RMHS Lizzie Boucher is completing her internship at a preschool. “I’m doing my internship at a preschool… working with little kids,” she said
Internship hour requirements are between 20 to 100 hours. Students taking AP classes are required to complete fewer hours.
Students are still applying to the RMHS internship program. With strong positive feedback from students and parents this program prepares seniors for future careers.
