To help inform the community and offer different perspectives, students, staff, and members of the prom committee at RMHS share their thoughts and decision making processes for the 2026 senior prom.
Prom, notably senior prom, has always been a prominent and exciting event at RMHS, and this year, students and staff show much excitement as the date approaches. Many students look forward to prom as it is not only a time for them to have fun with friends and get dressed up, but also a way for them to break away from busy and stressful schedules. Senior prom is also one of the many highlights of senior year and is an important memory to many students as it marks the end of their high school experience.
Even though prom is more than two months away, students have already put a lot of thought into their outfits, dates, and plans with friends. Staff as well have shown a positive attitude towards the prom, as many of them plan on chaperoning it and are excited to attend this lively event with their students.
Senior prom is a long-awaited event and every detail takes much planning and careful consideration. Clara Healy (‘26), a student in the prom committee, states how planning for his event has gone on for quite some time now. “We had to have a lot of meetings… [so it’s] been over a year of planning, and we still are planning it now.” Since prom is a meaningful and major event for seniors, Healey said, “We are making sure we are taking the class into account when we’re planning.” Many of the students are excited about this elaborate planning that their teachers and peers have done to provide such an amazing experience.
History teacher, Mr. Mahoney, who has chaperoned prom a few times, wishes that everyone has a good time and enjoys the celebration. “I enjoy seeing the students happy and making memories with each other, because this is a fun time in life that you only get one shot at, and it’s nice to see people living in the moment and enjoying their time together.”
Many students emphasize how exciting it is that senior prom happens at the end of year. “We’ll have less to focus on because we’ll already be out of school so we can enjoy it more,” noted Raniya Abubakar. Some also mention why they believe senior prom will be better than their junior prom because of the new location. Ally Shindelman (’26) stated, “I think prom will be better this year…because of the location. I’m pretty sure it’s in Gloucester. I think that’s better than last year.”
This year’s senior prom is on May 21st at Seaglass Salisbury Beach in Gloucester. Students and staff await this event with anticipation as they slowly prepare for one of the most exciting events of senior year.
