Unity Day, which will take place on October 17, 2025, is an RMHS event organized by Director of Academic Achievement Mrs. Buckley and guidance counselor Mrs. Manos, where students come together to participate in different activities led by various members of the faculty and staff.
On Unity Day, which first ran in the spring of 2022, students get to participate in a wide variety of teacher-led workshops such as Dungeons and Dragons, basketball, blackout poetry, friendship bracelet making and many others. It is a great opportunity for teachers to showcase their personal interests and share them with the school community. When asked why this event is important, Mrs. Buckley said,“ I think it’s really important for students in high school to have an opportunity to get to know their classmates and other community members, like teachers, staff and admin in a different light, outside of their regular day to day class periods. I think it builds relationships and helps strengthen the school community in general.”
Last year there were a lot of students absent for Unity Day, but this year there are new strategic elements being put into place to encourage participation. Vice-Principal Mrs. Theriault shared, “Seniors will probably hate me for this, but I strategically put the class of 2026 picture where we all go outside and make the 2026 on the field on Unity Day so that they wouldn’t miss class time and we could try to get seniors here. Also, it really is a fun day.” Mrs. Buckely added, “We’ve got some surprises for this Unity Day, like a couple of whole school competitions. So I’m gonna leave it at that.”
There is a lot of buzz around school as students begin to register for sessions they want to attend. Senior Jonathan Lee expressed his excitement saying, “I’m excited, because we get to skip school, basically, and then we have fun with our friends.”
