The RMHS football team will be hosting a 2-2 Belmont squad at 7 pm this Friday in a Middlesex-Liberty showdown, as they try to notch a win against their first league opponent of the season.

The Rockets are 3-0 so far on the year, and they’ll be trying to keep the wave of momentum rolling. Coming off of a staunch defensive performance in a 21-0 win against Danvers, they hope to carry it over into this week. It won’t be easy, however. Despite Belmont’s tough 40-6 defeat at the hands of Tewksbury last Friday, the Marauders have shown that their offense, led by Junior Quarterback Jayden Arno, can be explosive, putting up 32 and 43 points respectively in their first 2 games.

The key for us would be not letting them make some athletic improvisational plays.

— Coach Fiore

“The key for us would be not letting them make some athletic improvisational plays,” Coach John Fiore said when asked about how they would contain The Marauders offense, “It’s going to come down to a matter of winning our particular job on that play.”

Reading has been lighting some fireworks as well, racking up 35, 37, and 21 points in their three played games. Senior Quarterback, James Murphy, has been leading the way, having thrown for a total of 841 yards (that’s 280 per game), 5 touchdowns and with a completion percentage of 67% so far this season. Along with Jesse Doherty’s three touchdowns and Ryan Strout’s 100 receiving yards per game, the offense will be a tough beast for the Belmont Marauders to fight.

It will be an exciting game, but the Rockets are the favorites to win.
